THE POWER TRACE SYSTEM

With the Tasco PTL610 POWER TRACE, you can quickly determine the breaker that feeds a specific outlet. A traditional circuit breaker finder is expensive and requires two people with a radio, one of whom must continually toggle breakers on and off. The Power Trace eliminates the need for a team of two; you can operate the POWER TRACE by yourself.

A NEW BREED OF ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT TESTER

The POWER TRACE generates a composite signal with a specific blend of individual frequencies. This electric circuit tester works by recognizing that signature mix of frequencies. The POWER TRACE receiver looks for this signature, and it can detect it as far as 20 feet from the circuit. A traditional circuit breaker tracer often uses just one transmitter frequency for tracing a circuit. If noise is present in that frequency range, the unit can pick that up and mistake it for the test signal, confusing the operator or even identifying the wrong breaker.

HOW IT WORKS

The POWER TRACE TRANSMITTER draws current from a 9-600 volt line in a unique manner. The current drawn is a microprocessor-controlled precision combination of separate frequencies that create a composite signal. To be received, the signal must have this exact combination of frequencies. By using a composite signal, the POWER TRACE virtually eliminates errors caused by extraneous noise. It also has a significantly greater range than a typical live circuit tracer. To ease detection, an LED on the TRANSMITTER shows that the current has power and that the unit is functioning properly. The RECEIVER is then tuned to detect only the magnetic “signature” caused by the TRANSMITTER. The information received is then indicated to the operator via a set of fixed signal strength and variable strength LEDs.

USES FOR THE POWER TRACE

You can use the POWER TRACE circuit breaker locator for a variety of applications. Use it to trace power lines, neutral lines, ground lines, dead or shorted lines, or wire in conduit or underground. You can use it to find a breaker panel or identify a circuit breaker. It also acts as an excellent electrical wire finder. You can also use the POWER TRACE to trace low-voltage circuits.
