The Inspector II™  is a rugged test unit designed specifically for electricians and maintenance personnel.   It will find poor splices and connections, incorrect wiring, undersized wiring, faulty GFCI's, incorrect line voltage and poor ground lines.  With the Inspector II™ you can safely test power line ability to handle loads and be sure code standards are met.  Because of high technology sampling techniques, the Inspector II™ will not trip circuit breakers or blow fuses.  Using this device is convenient and fast.  If all wiring is correct and passes the electrical code standard for voltage drop, only green LED's will light and you will be on your way.  If not,  a quick glance at the panel will instantly identify the problem.   This high quality unit will become one of your most valued tools!  It will save you time and money by eliminating guess work and callbacks.

How it determines voltage drop

The Inspector™ II draws a small load on the line for a short period of time.   Next, it uses internal logic to calculate the percentage of voltage drop.  You never actually put the full load on the line.  This product will not trip breakers or put unnecessary stress on electrical lines.  The load measurement is taken independently of voltage.  This assures the indicated percentage of voltage drop will be correct and not read high or low due to varying line voltage.

Inspector II™ FAQs

How important is it to test lines under load?
Testing lines under load will assure the quality is acceptable all the way back to the panel. Use of this product is an excellent way to make sure all splices and connections are tight. This product will save you call backs and is great way to show your customers the condition of their wiring system.

Will the Inspector II™ trip or test circuit breakers?
The Inspector II™ will test circuit breakers for acceptable resistance.  It will not, however, trip circuit breakers or test their integrity.   Since the Inspector II™ only loads the line for a short period of time, it will not put unnecessary stress on or overheat electrical lines.

What will the ground impedance test identify?
The ground impedance test verifies the quality of your equipment ground back to the panel.  As with voltage drop, high ground impedance can be caused by poor connections and splices or undersized wiring.  Good ground line quality is critical to sensitive electronic equipment and lines carrying heavier loads.

Do I need the Inspector II™ to meet local code requirements?
The Inspector II™ identifies wiring errors that do not meet code requirements, but voltage drop under load is an electrical code recommendation.   Many inspectors use this product, but electricians receive the largest benefit as it helps prevent call backs and customer complaints.  It is also a great way to show customers the overall condition of their wiring system!
