The Buried Line Locator uses new technology that performs the functions of  more expensive locators at a lower cost.  The design allows the unit to be far lighter, yet still have better accuracy and definition. The transmitter uses a lower current output than competing units and a frequency that is more finely tuned. This combination is less likely to disturb lines that have equipment connected, and allows both transmitter and receiver to operate on standard "AA" size batteries. Microprocessors have been used in this product to increase simplicity of use. The product is easy to understand with a shorter learning curve than traditional locators.

BURIED LINE LOCATORS FAQs

Sometimes I need to scan an area before digging.  Do I have to trace one line at a time? I don't always know where the line originates so I don't have a connection point.
The Buried Line Locator features a "Passive" mode setting.  This will allow you to trace lines without the transmitter.  Although it does not indicate depth in the "Passive" mode, it will trace lines carrying current including electrical, cable TV and telephone lines.

Do I have to use clips to connect the transmitter?  Sometimes I don't have access to the actual conductor.
The transmitter can supply a signal to the line or conduit using a clamp.  This clamp can be connected at any point on the line.  If there is no access to the line, you can set the transmitter for inductive coupling.   It will send a signal through the ground and the conductor will pick  up the signal similar to an antenna.

The transmitter uses "AA" batteries, will it still send as strong a signal as competing units with more powerful batteries?
The transmitter sends a low current signal that is more finely tuned than competing models.  This allows just as strong of a signal reading with the added benefit of less weight and smaller size. This low current also creates comparable battery life to much larger units.
